Can some one explain me why BCBG went after Stretta and not after BEBE, Guess, Marciano, For ever 21, and many other brands that produce the same kind of dress? I have seen this style in many other stores.

Look at Gucci that just lost copy rights agains Guess, of course it took them a 7 seven years bottle.

They can sue all they want, but you can go on Youtube and learn to make your own. As well, there are plenty of enterprising craftspeople out there, like me, who make their own or at the very least, find a bracelet without the ridiculous price of the one mentioned.

Isn’t this company using the philosophy of Eastern teachings of humility and such and exploiting it through marketing a product at a huge cost? If they’re really on a tip to promote the ideology, why are they charging $2,000 for a beaded bracelet. For that price, I’d rather buy a plan ticket and travel to Asia myself and experience the land of which this ideology arises and come back with beads from there, just saying.

Nice post! Yes. Mad Men! BUT dressing like everyone else is just boring! I like to sometimes wear a black and white sketched t-shirt under a blazer for an edgier but still polished look. Feels more creative but the blazer polishes it off.

Well obviously everything in this Article isn’t true. It’s all based opinions. Some people would actually spend 328743939 dollars on a simple dress but obviously we ALL cannot do that. So forever 21 is basically the next best thing for us “Average shoppers”.. Forever 21 may have it’s ups and downs but in the end it’s all about looking decent and feeling good about yourself. Now, if anyone really cared about quality at forever 21.. Forever 21 wouldn’t even exist. But obviously not many people take the time to research fabrics and what not.. So :/

This is false. Lopez did not register the mark “Lower East Side” as a federal registration; he registered it as a state registration. In June 2011, he attempted to register the mark “LES NYC” to solidify his claims after having filed lawsuits with prominent fashion houses. In addition, his application for “LES NYC” was rejected by the examiner in October 2011. The serial number for this application is 85/335,314 if anybody would like to review the facts.

I love this post!!! I recently wrote about how to dress and I mentioned in that post that I would wear unconventional outfits to interviews. I remember once wearing red shoes to an interview. All my colleagues thought I was mad. Well, I got the job (that job propelled my career). After working there for sometime, I had a chat with the Partner who interviewed me for the job. He said he hired me, because there was just something about me, he could not get me out of his head, because I was so “out there” with my dress and my answers. I am sure he forget every black suit that walked in!

Love it! Another great post, it was great meeting you at the Underwraps event, you definitely practice what you preach. I will try to make it to the event since hey I live in Philly! What I do find most frustrating about networking is the fact that I have met a lot of inauthentic people, meaning they rarely follow through after spending so much time writing follow up emails but I think with more experience I will get better at determining better those I wish to maintain contact with in some way. ALl the best !

I knew this would happen at some point. Good for Herve Leger/BCBG taking this to court. I thought of Herve Leger right away when Stretta launched… what a complete copy. The Design Director and Co-Founder for Stretta had even uploaded a picture last year (via FB) pictured at their own studio with a Herve Leger store bag that was seen on the floor in the background. When I saw it, I was like, yep… it totally reaffirmed my initial thought of the brand… another wannabe. Shame on Stretta.

I’ve never bought Stretta dresses, but I down own authentic Herve Leger dresses. But if Max Azria is trying to trademark the ‘Bandage Dress’ so nobody else can make the design, then he needs to get over himself because it’s bloody ridiculous. Also, Stretta do not use the same fabric as Herve Leger dresses- their dresses are made from 85% Rayon and 25% Nylon- versus Herve Leger’s usual fabric content of 90% Rayon, 9% Nylon and 1% Elastane. Max Azria did NOT invent the bandage dress- he bought the company in 1997 from Herve Leger himself and then relaunched the company in 2007. Bandage dresses were wildly popular in the late 1980′s and even more popular in the 1990′s, and BOTH were popularized not only by Herve Leger, but also Azzedine Alaia. So for Max Azria to try and claim that ‘bandage style’ is unique to his brand and try to(what it sounds like he’s trying) to ban others from using the banding/bandage style on dresses is a joke. To me, I can spot the difference between Stretta and Herve Leger quite easily just by looking at pictures- Stretta’s dresses don’t have the same cuts and it’s quite easy to tell that the fabric is thinner and probably not as high quality as Herve Leger dresses. BUT for Stretta to employ a ‘leak’ campaign that alleges that their dresses are made in the same factories as Herve Leger dresses and that is found to be false, then that is pretty low. However, in all honestly, in the world of fashion who knows… Both of these brands are made in China( as are many other bandage designs) and of course, if Stretta’s claim did prove do be found true, then that wouldn’t really be the best look for Herve Leger, whose dresses retail at fair bit more than Stretta’s do.
Stretta is not the first brand to experiement/ launch bandage dresses/ and ones which are very similar- various top designer labels have also done so- Proenza Schouler, Armani Exchange and Karen Millen to name a few and in my opinion, sometimes the other brands provide nicer designers and the quality is near or just as good as Herve Leger.
Fashion ALWAYS repeats itself- just look the past year’s fashion- there’s been a huge throwback to the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s. Basically most of the designs exremely similar or the same to what my grandmother wore when she was young. So sometimes perhaps before some designers start having a go at other designers, they should look at themselves first.

This type of activity happens all the time in the music industry for concert promoters and bookers. This fight will be tied up in litigation as are the many that find themselves in this position. The only way is for the courts to decide that the money has to be given back. Before any money is sent, an independent investigation on getting Lady Gaga’s agreement to do the show should have been done.

Hi, I just came across this article,after doing some extensive research, and having worked at f21 for almost 2 years, I would have to agree with you.
But this isn’t the only matter with their clothing and the industry as a whole.
Today< I found out that the chemicals used in making of the f21 clothing may cause cancer. I know some people have heard about this a while ago and have waved it off thinking that this couldn't possibly be true, yet unfortunately, I was told that there was a sign at the registers warning the customers of what they were purchasing along with the store policy. One of the region managers was asked about it and she forced the employees to take the signs down and later replaced them with just the store policy.
F21 hiding the truth for their benefit? Of course.

I can get with this article is trying to point out. I worked at forever 21 so I know what goes on. Its not really about buying $300 designer clothes, but not supporting a corrupted company. Sears, JC Pennys and Macys had better quality clothes then these cheap boutiques (F21, Wet Seal, DEB). I’m sure you know what you paying for, but don’t cheat yourself out. YOU DESERVE BETTER QUALITY! No woman (or man) should have to wear cheaply made clothes if they can help it. You can find clothes just as good (and cheaper) at a thrift shop.
I’m sure other companies bend rules but this company is just outrageous. The clothes are poorly made, wash them once and they shrink, have sharp nails and there’s a pretty little whole in it. They also use cheap child labor. Once I found out I stopped buying clothes from there. Sometimes when we get shipment in, there’s MOLD, BUGS, MILDEW on the garments or they are already damaged. Depending on how bad said garment is damaged, we still have to sell it. Ive sold dresses that has mold, stains, rips, tares, dirt, anything you can think of on them. And you’ll only get %10 off the garment if you still want it (which here only takes the tax off). And you cant return it. SOOO GREAT!
A lot of money that is raised for certain causes/organizations doesn’t all go to that organization. I called once to see how much and they said and ‘undisclosed amount’. I asked someone else and they told me %5 of sales, which isn’t much considering the money they make off these people.
The company is very money hungry and doesn’t care that they get sued and steal designs because they will make that money back in a day.
Sure, call me a angry ex employee but I have never in my 25 years of life worked for a company as bad as forever 21.

Trademarking single colors? That’s stupid. I can understand a certain pattern of colors being trademarked though, like Gucci’s green/red/green stripe, given that an actual pattern can represent a brand. A single shade of red doesn’t seem to make you think “oh, that’s a [insert brand] shoe” like that pattern stripe, for example, makes you think Gucci.
