In the US and the UK, the system even extended the right to advertisers to include trademarked brands within their ads. Read more

The fruits of four years of labor finally paid off for independent film studio BMB Finishes when its Zelda-based movie, The Hero of Time, was released for public consumption over the internet. Reaction to the film was mixed, but it seemed like everyone appreciated the 1,460 days of hard work that went into the feature-length film’s creation. Apparently, that’s not the case — the movie’s official site was updated, explaining that the studio had come to an agreement with Nintendo to stop distributing the film online. (source) Read more

State inspectors in Zhejiang, China claimed to have found widespread health risks and fraud from brands  like Dolce & Gabbana, Trussardi, Hugo Boss, Paul & Shark alongside Hermes and Versace. In a test where they took a random sample of 85 batches of clothing, 60% of them failed Chinese quality standards. Inspectors found poor color fastness, high levels of acid, high levels of formaldehyde. Chinese health reports say that these can cause skin rashes, eye irritations, allergies, respiratory problems and even cancer. The clothes were manufactured from countries ranging from Italy, France, Morocco, Turkey, Vietnam and India.

What Fame Appeal found shocking was that none of the Fashion Houses would be held liable because none of them are registered in China. Instead, the Chinese government will issue fines to the clothing stores as a penalty for violating  Product Quality Law.

Once a fashion designer, and now a third year law student in the North East. My heart pumps color; while most of my classmates dream about writing for a legal journal, my fingertips caress the keyboard learning about fashion and entertainment.
