REDBOX getting bullied by Movie Production companies & Wal-Mart
February 7, 2010 | Leave a Comment
- Following a string of anti-trust lawsuits, REDBOX is still getting picked on by Universal, Fox and Warner. Why does the film industry, and DVD retailers, HATE REDBOX? Well, it is because REDBOX wants to rent movies the moment they are out on new release… which is usually the time people actually BUY the movie. This means fewer consumers will buy and more will rent.
- REDBOX says movie studios, broke the law when they told wholesalers to stop selling to REDBOX unless the kiosk operator agreed to keep the new-release titles unavailable for at least 28-45 days, therefore hurting REDBOX’s potential profit. Stores like WALMART have gone even further by allowing customers to only rent five DVD’s at a time from REDBOX. REDBOX simply wants to rent DVD’s, however it is getting picked on because their business style is cheap and efficient.
- F.A. uses REDBOX… and wants to encourage others to do so…here is a free movie! Just enter the coupon code at the REDBOX kiosk and enjoy!

Organic or Panic!
February 7, 2010 | Leave a Comment
A little beyond your budget, but it’s organic. So, why not push the price tag up and make teens and 20 somethings feel eco-chic? PSYCHE! The Swedish retailer H&M has been caught in a fraud. Their fitting rooms may be under surveillance, but it looks like their “organic cotton” supply is not. Jasmin Malik Chua reports for Ecouterre informs F.A. that genetically modified cotton has been used in “organic” items sold at H&M.

Philadelphia is styling 2.0

F.A. was a privileged guest of Fox Rothschild Fashion Law firm and Fashion Group International last night. It was a night where designers, retailers and publicists could socialize/network to further their business in Philadelphia. Hotshots in the fashion industry included fashion designer Sarah Van Aken, owner of Sa Va and Kristie Bergey, executive director of Philadelphia Fashion Week. In addition to City of Philadelphia’s Director of New Business Attractions Karen Randall, who informed the attendees the many financial/incentives the city offers. (Karen’s recent work)
The influence of social media is gaining strength every day, and channeling it, in order to further business in fashion and entertainment alike was one of the many topics dicussed by Kristen Insalaco of Insalaco PR. F.A. is presently implementing her advice in order to increase its audience! Thanks Kristen!
My favorite moment was finally meeting fashion lawyer Staci Riordan Legal issues which arise in the fashion industry need special attention, and Staci Riordan has tirelessly represented clients in this specialized profession. Meeting with Staci Riordan Esq, was fantastic. During question and answer she offered her insight to fashion designers and retailers in hopes for success in 2010.

Aerosmith’s lead singer Steven Tyler was a little more than pissed off when his management talked about kicking him off the band as lead singer. BUT WAIT (drum roll please) Who do you call when you’re an artist and need protection… ENTERTAINMENT LAWYER Skip Miller !! Mr. Miller sent a letter to Aerosmith management stating: ”immediately cease and desist from engaging in acts and conduct to the harm and detriment of your own client, Aerosmith, and our client who is one of its members” ….. On the other hand, Steven is undergoing drug rehab, and F.A. assumes that Aerosmith shareholders are concerned that while Steven is on the drip the show must go on….. thanks billboard

Trademark court: Situation vs. Situation
February 3, 2010 | Leave a Comment
The U.S. Patent and Tademark Office has received TWO trademark applications for rights over the mark: “The Situation,”neither of which are from Michael Sorrentino! F.A. wishes they could be at the trademark court to see this fight, especially if Mr. Sorrentino becomes an interested party. F.A. wonders if Michael could argue that he adopted the mark, and used the mark first. To see the actual application click here
