South Africa World Cup Courts FIFA- Fame Appeal

Forget about Yellow or Red cards! In order to be prepare for legal violations the Law Society of South Africa has actually set up a Special World Cup Court. The special court quickly handles issues so that it does not have to be taken care of after the World Cup is over. For example violations :

-committed by non-resident supporters,
-committed against non-resident supporters,
-to which a non-resident is a witness to a crime, or
- committed at a tourist attraction or any other place in the country which in the opinion of a Senior Public Prosecutor will classify the offence as a 2010 FIFA World Cup case.

Grant Abrahamse has been in a legal fight against FIFA for the past five years. He has been accused of violating patet rights by selling a World Cup commemorative key-ring holder. Abrahamse says that FIFA wont allow anyone to benefit from the worldcup except for themselves. He states “No one’s benefitted from the World Cup except FIFA. They are actually worse than the mafia. They should get their just rewards. I’m going to pursue it. We are going to go for costs and damages when we win this case.”

Even though Fifa spend $1.2 Billion in staging the event don’t you think they should allow locals to make some extra money by selling World Cup merchandise? Companies like Coca Cola and Adidas have had to pay $3.2 Billion to be able to sponsor the World Cup, however just because the local’s dont have as much money they should still be able to sell World Cup goods.
