Gilt Makes Its First Move

Fame Appeal is a frequent viewer of the members exclusive website, Gilt.com. The main reason why we repeatedly check the website is because of the luck of finding considerable discounts on famous brands that at retail price takes too much of a hit on our wallets (or purses). Usually, we are late and most of the items that we would want to buy are already sold out; however, sometimes we do get lucky. That was the case when I bought my first item on Gilt Man, a pair of Gourmet sneakers that were about 40% off the original price. Fame Appeal at times is skeptical buying from the internet because of the fear of jeans not fitting the correct way or a blazer that is too tight, yet, there are times when there are deals that we just cannot miss.

You may think that this is just a Gilt testimonial, however, this is proof of how in three years, an e-commerce site can be as successful as Gilt Group currently is and its popularity can only grow. One way that it has recently expanded is with its acquisition of the West Coast e-commerce site, Bergine. Bergine is a “luxury online flash-sale destination with local services and experiences.” It claims to be the first site of its sorts, nonetheless, this acquisition makes Gilt broaden its market from the east coast to the west coast. This generates more exposure, more membership, and more sales, which are all positives that will only help Gilt Group. All Fame Appeal hopes for is a chance on some of the discounts as well.
